New flagship from Korean manufacturer goes on sale at retailer today
The LG G4 has gone on sale at Carphone Warehouse, 24 hours ahead of its UK-wide launch.
The retailer has an exclusive on the black leather iterant of the latest flagship from the Korean manufacturer.
The phone features a 5.5 inch screen, 16 megapixel rear and eight megapixel front facing camera capable of “DSLR quality” imaging, 32GB storage (expandable to 128GB), Android 5.1 Lollipop and a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
The handset was launched at a media event in London last month (pictured) attended by hundreds of journalists.
The Korean firm, once a market leader in the UK, is currently ranked fifth in the world for sales – with 4.6 per share. However, it boosted Q1 sales (January-March) by more than 26 per cent to 15.4 million thanks in part to last year’s G3 – which sold around 10 million units.
LG electronics president and CEO Juno Cho has previously expressed his confidence in the new device is capable of competing with “the best of the best” in the current market. It has already predicted sales of eight million this year and 12 million over its lifecycle.
LG is planning to increase its marketing spend by up to 60 per cent for the device although it wouldn’t reveal specifics.
