Lenovo reshuffles mobile leadership team


MBG Executive vice president and chairman of Motorola Mobility Liu Jun to be replaced SenQi CEO Chen Xudong

Lenovo has appointed Chen Xudong as the new executive vice president of its Mobile Business Group and chairman of Motorola Mobility.

He replaces Liu Jun, who leaves after four years and will become a special consultant to Xudong on mobile business and strategy “for a certain period of time”.

Xudong joins from ShenQi, where he has been CEO for the past year. This is the internet-based smart devices business set up by Lenovo in China last year. He joined Lenovo in 1993 and has held several senior roles, including president of its Chinese division for five years.

Under his leadership of Jun, Lenovo has become the world’s number three smartphone and tablet player. He also oversaw the $2.91 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility in October 2014.

He will now become co-chairman of ShenQi with George He. while current vice president of ShenQi Edward Chang will become CEO.
