Deal believed to be first of its kind in the UK. Handset will be available from next month.
Tech Data Mobile has secured a UK exclusive on the dual SIM Lumia 640 handset for the B2B and retail channels.
The handset, was first unveiled back in February by outgoing executive vice president Stephen Elop during Mobile World Congress.
Pricing details for the dual-SIM variant, which will be available mid July, have not been officially announced. The original single SIM variant went on sale in April, priced between £130 SIM free (Carphone Warehouse) and £169 through Microsoft online store.
Features on the device include a five-inch screen, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 8MP camera, 1MP front-facing, 8GB memory, 1GB RAM and a replaceable 2500mAh battery.
Tech Data Mobile, who were appointed as official Microsoft distributors for B2B in July last year, will also bundle in Office 365 for a year and 30GB of cloud storage through OneDrive.
It is believed to be the first time that Microsoft will have offered a dual-SIM handset in the UK market. The handsets are popular in emerging markets such as India.
Tech Data Mobile is understood to have already signed deals with a number of large online retailers looking to stock the handset.
Tech Data Mobile declined to comment at this time.
