Global SIM now includes Israel, Malaysia, South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan bringing total to 66 countries
Truphone has added five new countries to its World Business SIM, taking the total number of connected states to 66 altogether.
The MVNO, which operates on Vodafone in the UK, said customers will now be able to experience calls, data and text services “like at home” in the five emerging markets.
The additions follow a 12-month review of travel patterns in which Truphone looked for the most promising emerging markets.
The World Businesses SIM allows users to connect with a local data centre, rather than send information routed through the phone’s home country first, reducing lag on calls and data.
Truphone CEO Steve Robertson said: “We are delighted to provide our Truphone World customers with mobile access in these emerging business and technology hubs, which will enable us to further increase the footprint of our service.
“Traffic on our network is growing between 15 per cent and 20 per cent each month. With a quarter of all voice and a third of all data usage being conducted outside our customers’ home country, Truphone is the established provider of hiqh-quality and low-cost international mobile packages to leading international businesses.”
