OnePlus claims new device is “2016 flagship killer”


Follow-up to OnePlus One comes with high-end specs including 5.5 inch screen but prices start at just £239

OnePlus has announced the follow-up to last year’s OnePlus One, labelling it this year’s “flagship killer”.

The OnePlus 2 comes with a 5.5 inch LCD screen, storage options of either 16GB or 64GB, but prices start at just £239.

By comparison, the similarly-sized iPhone 6 Plus costs from £619 SIM-free, while the 5.1 inch Samsung Galaxy S6 costs from £560.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and comes with a 13 megapixel camera on the back, and a 5MP snapper on the front.

The design is similar to its predecessor, but this time comes with an aluminium frame with a textured back. It also has a reversible USB-C charging port.

OnePlus has upgraded security on last year’s model by adding a fingerprint sensor to the OnePlus 2. It runs on Android Lollipop but comes with OnePlus’ own overlay, called OxygenOS.

As with the OnePlus One last year, the device is available through “invite” only, although anyone can signup to receive one on the OnePlus website.

The device will begin shipping in the US, India and Europe (including the UK) next month. the 16GB version will costs £239 while the 64GB option will cost £289.
