The 4G device launched alongside the Moto X at events in London, Sao Paulo and New York on July 28.
Features on the £159 device include a 5-inch display, 13 megapixel camera, a 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and up to 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB with a microSD card. It is also fully waterproof, and can be submerged in depths of up to one metre.
Motorola told Mobile News at the Moto G’s launch event that both Tech Data Mobile and rival distributor Brightstar would be stocking its new range, with only the former confirming stock.
Tech Data Mobile vendor director David Brassington said the device will appeal greatly to the business market. “The Moto G has a great specification with a screen size and features such as waterproofing that you don’t usually get on a smartphone that’s so affordable,” said Brassington.
“It is going to have a very strong appeal to businesses – particularly those looking to equip their mobile workers with fast, efficient and practical smartphone that won’t break the budget. We are working closely with Motorola and we’re ready to ship from stock for overnight delivery and help partners maximise their business opportunities with the new Moto G.”
Tech Data Mobile resellers can also currently pre-order the new Moto X Play from Tech Data before it officially comes out on August 24. The device, which is Motorola’s new mid-range device, comes with a 1080p HD display, a 5.5-inch screen and a 21 megapixel camera.
