IFA: Cat unveils ‘rugged’ S30 smartphone


Cat says the Phone boasts “superior rugged credentials through its design”

Trade industry specialists Cat has announced the S30 smartphone designed for trade industry professionals who are after a “rugged” handset suitable for their work environment.

Cat unveiled the device in Berlin at IFA 2015, Europe’s largest electronics trade event. The company says that the phone boasts “superior rugged credentials through its design.” It comes with “easy-grip casing”, is waterproof and dustproof and operates on Google’s latest Android Lollipop operating system. Cat also claims the phone can handle drops from heights of 1.8 metres and that it is oil and grease resistant. Prices start from €329 and the device is available now.

According to Cat, the phone is the product of extensive research amongst professional tradesman and existing Cat phone users. Up to 69 per cent of those surveyed said their work environment influences their decision to buy a rugged phone.
