23-karat gold limited edition version of LG Urbane will retail for around £790 at the end of October
LG will release a 23-carat gold limited edition version of its Urbane smartwatch, the manufacturer has announced at IFA.
The LG Watch Urbane Luxe will come with an alligator leather strap and is set in a piano-gloss lacquer case, according to the Korean manufacturer.
LG will initially release just 500 of the limited edition devices, which will cost $1,200 (£790) and go on sale at the end of October.
The Urbane has a 1.3-inch display, a 1.2GHz processor, 410 mAh battery and is IP-67 resistant to dust and water.
It also has a number of sensors: Accelerometer, compass, barometer, heart rate and a gyro.
“Wearable devices shouldn’t be thought of as an extension of one’s smartphone but an extension of oneself,” said LG Mobile VP Chris Yie.
“This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware. We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation.”
