Lenovo appoints Oliver Ebel to head up smartphone division in EMEA

Oliver Ebel has been appointed as Lenovo vice president and general manager of EMEA Smartphone.

Ebel’s main duties include being responsible for the sales of Lenovo and Motorola smartphones and wearables across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He will also be responsible for the business strategy, whilst determining the direction of sales and marketing in the region.

Before taking on this role, Ebel was Lenovo’s vice president and general manager of Middle East and Africa (MEA) between October 2012 and August 2015. His responsibilities in this previous role included overseeing business operations across the MEA region and overseeing the development of Lenovo’s PC, smartphones and tablet businesses in EMA.

Lenovo Group senior vice president Eric Cador said: “‘Oliver’s leadership and business achievements in the Middle East & Africa region speak for themselves.  He has put our mobile business firmly on the map in this region by achieving huge growth in a very short space of time.  Under his leadership our Smartphone business right across EMEA will only go from strength to strength.”
