Manufacturers competing directly with traditional legacy brands will have their own award at event, which will be held at the Hilton on Park Lane on March 10
Disruptive new manufacturers now have their own category to enter for the Mobile News Awards 2016.
The new “Challenger Manufacturer” category has been launched to recognise the way global legacy brands are being challenged by new niche phone-makers, such as Kazam, WileyFox, OnePlus, Acer, Doro, and Honor.
The Mobile News Awards takes place on March 10, at the Hilton on Park Lane at a black-tie gala dinner and ceremony hosted by top tier comedian Lee Nelson.
“We realised it was unrealistic to expect newcomers to go up against the big brands such as Sony, Samsung, Apple, LG, Huawei and Microsoft,” said Mobile News editor Michael Garwood. “The Challenger Manufacturer category will hopefully encourage these new disruptors to enter the Mobile News Awards without worrying about being dwarfed by the scale of operations at the traditional ‘big brands’.”
The full list of categories at the MNA 2016 are: Premium Manufacturer, Challenger Manufacturer, Accessory Manufacturer, Best Smartphone Innovative Product, Network Operator, MVNO, Innovative Service, Hardware Distributor, Airtime Distributor, Accessories Distributor (over 100 employees) and Accessories Distributor (under 100 employees).
There is also Wearable Device, Online Retailer, B2B Dealer (over 50 employees), B2B Dealer (under 50 employees). Service and Repair, Customer Service, Recycling Provider, and, of course, Industry Personality of the Year.
Companies can now submit their entries electronically through the new Mobile News Awards entry portal (mobilenewsawards.co.uk).
