Former Motorola and Orange director Bob Johnson dies


Funeral to take place at St. John The Baptist church in Hagley, Worcestershire tomorrow (January 29)

Mobile News is sad to report that former Motorola and Orange senior director Bob Johnson has died.

Johnson had a career spanning more than two decades in telecom’s, most notably the three years he spent as European sales director at Motorola (1991-94) and the nine spent with Orange (1994), holding a number of senior management roles (1994-2003). These included head of indirect sales, general manager of retail and global head of retail and distribution, where he launched the mobile operator’s retail operations in some 2,500 outlets across 17 countries.

His funeral will take place at 3pm tomorrow (January 29) at St. John The Baptist church in Hagley, Worcestershire. Details surrounding his death are not yet confirmed.

ANOVO chief commercial officer Stephen Maxwell worked alongside Johnson at Orange for six years in the roles of group controller of purchasing service and development, and head of supply chain development,

“Bob will be remembered as a great guy,” said Maxwell. “He did a fantastic job developing Orange’s retail strategy.”
