The company also launched the COMFORT flip phone in Barcelona
emporia claims its new CLASSIC handset (pictured) has features that can ‘enable over-50s’ to enter the mobile phone market.
The company, which primarily targets the elderly, launched the CLASSIC at Mobile World Congress and says its features are simple and clear for older users.
It includes adjustable text size, a two-inch screen, raised buttons, voice announcements and the emporia emergency call system. The call system is a function that locates the user’s exact position via GPS and sends it to all emergency contacts through SMS. This is all done with the touch of a button.
emporia CEO Eveline Pupeter said: “emporiaCLASSIC will ease older customers into the mobile landscape, offering key call and messaging functions without the added fuss of complicated technology.”
The manufacturer also announced the COMFORT. This flip phone includes a 2MP camera, 2.4-inch screen and external display on its cover. It also has large buttons, adjustable text sizes and the same emergency call function as the CLASSIC.
