Inflight mobile provider claims increased availability has helped it achieve the milestone
AeroMobile is off to a record start after gaining over two million inflight connections within the first two months of the year.
The inflight mobile connectivity provider claims this is the first time (February 15) it has achieved such a high number in this period.
AeroMobile Revenue Development director Jack Gordon told Mobile News the service’s increased availability has helped the company achieve the milestone. He said: “Every year is a record breaking year. We see each year beating the last because our service is available on more airlines and flights. Connectivity used to be rare, but it’s becoming more mainstream.
“AeroMobile’s services are now available with 14 airlines. Word of mouth is a huge part of it. Frequent flyers become familiar with the service and know what’s available.”
Gordon added AeroMobile’s increasing work with airlines to boost marketing has also helped. Passengers travelling on partner airlines will find information about AeroMobile’s service on seatback cards, inflight magazines and through passenger announcements.
AeroMobile uses technology from Panasonic that allows airline passengers to use voice, data and SMS services mid-flight. Over 36 million passengers have connected to AeroMobile’s service since it launched in 2008. It has also since been used on over 700,000 flights.
It currently offers 2G on 17 major airlines, including KLM, Emirates, Etihad, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways. 3G is only available on airberlin. The service is enabled via partnerships with over 320 networks around the world (including all UK operators).
