The supermarket revealed the numbers in its 2015/2016 financials published today
The number of Tesco Mobile customers has increased from just over 4.3 million to 4.6 million, according to the supermarket’s preliminary 2015/2016 financials.
The financials for the three months ending February 27 published today (April 13) show a five per cent year-on-year increase in Tesco Mobile subscribers. Tesco also revealed that the chain had £944 million operating profit throughout the year.
The supermarket chain’s chief executive Dave Lewis said: “We have regained competitiveness in the UK with significantly better service, a simpler range, record levels of availability and lower and more stable prices.
“Our balance sheet is stronger and we are making good progress in rebuilding trust in Tesco and our investment case. More customers are buying more things more often at Tesco.”
Tesco had expressed interest last month in becoming its own MVNO by purchasing the remaining shares of its joint venture with O2, which Tesco Mobile operates on.
