P9 is first flagship from Chinese manufacturer to be ranged by all four operators and Carphone Warehouse

The Huawei P9 has gone on sale in the UK from today (May 6) and has been ranged by all four operators and Carphone Warehouse.

The P9, which was launched in front of more than 2,000 journalists in London last month, is the first flagship from the Chinese manufacturer to be ranged by EE, O2, Vodafone, Three and Carphone.

The P9 features a 12MP dual rear camera created in collaboration with world renowned camera maker Leica, a key USP according to Huawei Devices rotating CEO Richard Yu.

At the launch at Battersea Evolution on April 6, Yu said: “Huawei is excited to give P9 users the best smartphone photography experience by leveraging the unrivalled capabilities of Leica, the leader in the world of imaging for more than 100 years.”

The P9 comes in two forms: the 5.2 inch screened P9 and the larger 5.5-inch P9 Plus. The smaller P9 is constructed from aerospace-class aluminium and has curved edges. It has a 5.2-inch HD display, 32 and 64GB of internal memory, and a Kirin 955 2.5GHz processor. Battery capacity also stands at 3,000mAh.

The devices come in “titanium grey” and “mystic silver”, with the latter variant available from Three, Carphone and Vodafone. It costs an RRP of £449.

Huawei Consumer Business Group MD for UK&I James Jie, said: “This is the first Huawei device to be ranged across all of the major UK sales channels and we look forward to seeing great take up from consumers. With the P9, in collaboration with Leica, we are looking to firmly establish the Huawei brand within the high-end, premium sector in the UK.”
