Pebble Core is a standalone fitness watch, while US manufacturer has also announced Pebble Time and Pebble Time 2
Smartwatch manufacturer Pebble has announced three new smartwatches on Kickstarter.
The US-based manufacturer, which currently holds the record for most money raised on the crowd funding platform, debuted the Pebble Core, Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 on the site.
Pebble announced the project today (May 24) with a $1 million fundraising goal, and had reached more than $677,000 at the time of writing.
“When Pebble got their start on Kickstarter, they not only brought an innovative idea to life, but inspired an entirely new category of product,” said Kickstarter CEO Yancey Strickler.
The Pebble 2 is a follow-up to the original Pebble smartwatch and sleep, step and heart-rate tracking with iOS and Android devices. It promises a week long battery life and is water resistant up to 30 meters.
The Pebble 2 will retail in the US for $99 in five colours, and is due to start shipping in September. UK release details were not given.
Pebble Time 2
The Pebble Time 2, the manufacturer claims, is a more premium smartwatch with a stainless steel casing, available in gold, silver, and black.
Its battery lasts up to 10 days on a single charge and it also comes with a hart rate monitor and microphone built-in.
It will cost $169, and is also available through Kickstarter, with shipments due to start in November.
It comes with an in-built GPS chip and syncs with a number of fitness apps including Runkeeper, Strava, MapMyRun, Google Fit and Under Armour Record.
Battery life on the Core lasts up to 8 hours, Pebble claims, while the device can be charged wirelessly with any Qi charger or with the included cable.
Pebble Core is available now on Kickstarter starting at $69 and is due to start shipping in January.
“Pebble has a rich history of giving people simple devices that do a few things really well and make life a bit easier. Health and communications is at the heart of how people use wearables today,” said Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky.
“Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 combine the power of a fitness tracker with the awesome smartwatch features that we’ve developed over the last four years. With Pebble Core, we’re launching off the wrist and taking wearables to the next level.”
