BT Mobile calls on Alec Baldwin for new advertising campaign

Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor will star in cross-platform “behind the scenes” ads promoting BT’s 4G and WiFi

Emmy-winning actor Alec Baldwin has become the latest star to appear in a BT advert after starring in a cross-platform campaign for the telecoms giant’s MVNO.

Baldwin, who won two Emmys and three Golden Globes for appearances in TV sitcom 30 Rock, appears in TV ad spots promoting BT Mobile’s 4G and WiFi coverage.

The adverts claim that BT Mobile’s 4G and wi-fi is: “As good as Alec Baldwin’s dramatic delivery”, which the actor puts to the test.

Baldwin said: “Check me out in the next ad for BT Mobile. I loved spending time filming in the UK, especially meeting the sheep!”

The campaign launched on June 3 with out of home and digital ads featuring Baldwin in locations across the UK. It also includes regionalised versions for London, Manchester and Birmingham as well as cinema, radio and social media activity.

It is the latest instalment in BT’s “behind the scenes” series of ads, which has so far featured actors including Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Rebel Wilson and Ewan McGregor.

BT Consumer marketing director Dan Ramsay said: “We wanted to bring to life just how good BT Mobile’s 4G and wi-fi coverage is. We understand that getting online where they need to, really matters to our customers.

“Viewers will be entertained watching Alec in everyday British settings where he will use his talent to speak in a dramatic way about ordinary things. He has such a great delivery– whether it’s his pauses or his intonation, he has a way of making anything sound dramatic. He could read out the BT Phone Book and leave you wanting more.”
