The group stage game saw England beat Wales 2-1 as striker Daniel Sturridge scored the winner during injury time. According to EE, the match helped drive the largest amount of data ever used on its network.

Traffic surged when Sturridge scored the winning goal. EE claims this was 50 per cent higher than its last peak; Australian forward Tim Cahill’s goal at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
