Data traffic surged surged as striker Daniel Sturridge scored the winning goal

Data traffic on EE’s network was at its highest ever yesterday (June 16) during the Euro 2016 group match between England and Wales.

The group stage game saw England beat Wales 2-1 as striker Daniel Sturridge scored the winner during injury time. According to EE, the match helped drive the largest amount of data ever used on its network.

Traffic surged when Sturridge scored the winning goal. EE claims this was 50 per cent higher than its last peak; Australian forward Tim Cahill’s goal at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

EE declined to reveal more info on the data.
