International MVNO goes live with service through expanded agreement with Telstra Wholesale

Lycamobile has launched 4G data services in Australia following the expansion of its partnership with Telstra Wholesale in the country.

This new deal will mean Lycamobile will be able to provide 4G coverage to 95 per cent of the Australian population and a combined 4G and 3G coverage footprint of 98.8 per cent, covering 1.59 million square kilometres.

The international MVNO first launched in Australia in November 2010, originally supplying access to Telstra’s 2G network.

It claimed that as it continues to expand into a number of new global territories, the roll-out of 4G in Australia underlines its commitment to sustained investment in its existing markets and customers.

Lycamobile chairman Subaskaran Allirajah (pictured) said: “We are working hard to develop our product offering and maintain our commitment to customer experience as we further our goal of connection communities and bringing people together across the world.”

Telstra Wholesale executive director, sales, Glenn Osborne said: Telstra has a longstanding partnership with Lycamobile, and we are pleased to support them in expanding their offering to include 4G services alongside the existing high quality 3G product.
