Paul: JAG/Go handover debacle
September 5, 2008
Paul reflects on JAG's move to clawback store staff for faulty sales, and its belated move to put the error right
It was troubling to read how Go Mobile shop workers were extremely unhappy at how JAG was clawing them back in one massive lump sum at the end of their working contract with the retailer.
If salespeople don't follow the correct selling procedures as laid out clearly to them, they should of course be clawed back, but to take it all at once seems highly unfair and could leave some going home at the end of the month with nothing at all.
These staff would have put in a lot of hard work and many will rely on their wages to pay their rent or mortgage and feed themselves and their families.
If JAG hadn't dealt with the situation promptly, the strain on its relationship with Go Mobile could've seen hopes for resurrecting the deal to buy the outlets severely dented, or ended for good.
