Vodafone takes BlackBerry Bold

September 5, 2008

Vodafone follows Orange and T-Mobile to stock BlackBerry's Bold handset

The BlackBerry Bold, by Research In Motion (RIM), has gone on sale in Vodafone stores.

The Bold is already available via Orange and T-Mobile. It will also be on sale from 3 stores in November.

Vodafone UK head of enterprise marketing Elaine Roberts said: "The combination of the BlackBerry Bold on Vodafone's fastest and most reliable network provides our customers with the ability to work more flexibly than ever before.

"A third of UK businesses continue to expect an email response to their new business enquiries within two hours. So, the arrival of BlackBerry Bold has never been more timely for our customers."

RIM vice president of corporate marketing Mark Guibert said: "The BlackBerry Bold is the most advanced BlackBerry smartphone to date. It delivers an amazing blend of functionality, performance, usability and design, making it an ideal choice for both business professionals and power users in the UK."

The Bold allows users to edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. It comes with Wi-Fi and integrated GPS, supporting Vodafone's Sat Nav. It also has a 2 megapixel camera.

It will be available free on Vodafone's Anytime 600 data plan for £35 a month with a 24 month contract. The plan includes 600 minutes talk-time, unlimited texts and data/internet access with a 500MB per month fair usage policy. It is also available on all Vodafone Total Business price plans.
