Samsung splashes £4.5m on Pixon ads

Phones 4U rumoured to be getting exclusive distribution, as marketing campaign launches November 8 with X-Factor slot

Samsung is to spend £4.5 million in the UK on marketing its latest 8 megapixel camera, the Pixon.

The marketing spend will cover television, large outdoor media, print and online. The Pixon campaign starts next Saturday (November 8) in a slot on ITV's X-Factor television programme.

The Pixon campaign will run for six weeks.

Samsung's Pixon handset is available in stores fromNovember 1. It is available from all networks.

The Pixon is 13.8mm thick – thinner than other 8 megapixel handsets, Samsung's i8510, LG's Renoir and Sony Ericsson C905.

It features a 3.2-inch screen, a 16x digital zoom, autofocus, fast-shutter, face detection and geotagging, plus an integrated photo browser to allow easy photo sharing and viewing.
