Orange first to stock Viewty Smart

May 14, 2009

Orange becomes the first operator to stock LG's follow-up to the Viewty, due for release at the end of the month

Orange will become the first operator to stock the LG Viewty Smart. The phone will be available from Orange’s sales channels at the end of the month.

The Viewty Smart comes with an 8-megapixel camera and Intelligent Shot Mode. It features the manufacturer’s new 3D user interface , increased sensitivity up to ISO 1600, 3-inch WVGA touchscreen and DVD video recording quality.

The announcement comes after LG said it has now sold seven million units globally of the original Viewty since its launch in November 2007.

LG Mobile president and CEO Dr. Skott Ahn said: "Viewty’s popularity is due to its combination of advanced technology and innovative design. We are continuing to establish our dedication to providing revolutionary camera phones that set market benchmarks as the original Viewty did.

"In the past, camera phones have been primarily concerned with the specs and number of megapixels, not about the pleasure of actually taking great pictures. Viewty Smart changes everything, providing the users with pictures that look exactly like what they see. It’s the most advanced 8-megapixel camera phone on the market not only because of its high quality specs, but because of the unparalleled user experience it delivers."

LG added that it has plans to release a 12-megapixel camera phone with even more smart features, planned for launch later this year.
