Voda taking Storm2 pre-orders

October 15, 2009

By Michael Garwood

The BlackBerry Storm2, which now features Wi-Fi, is now available for pre-order from Vodafone, and will be in stores from October 26

Vodafone has today launched its second network exclusive BlackBerry device, the 9520 Storm2.

The touchscreen BlackBerry 9520 device, is the second incarnation of the Storm handset, which launched exclusively on Vodafone in November last year. The new version also includes Wi-Fi connectivity.

The updated handset also includes a new version of its ‘Sure Press’ technology to provide tactile feedback when pressing the screen, with improvements also made to the touchscreen keyboard for increased accuracy.

Other features include the new BlackBerry OS 5, quad band, 3.2 megapixel camera including zoom, flash and video, 2GB of internal memory expandable to 32GB using MicroSD, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The device will also include the latest version of BlackBerry desktop software and is compatible with iTunes and Windows Media player.

The launch of the original Storm saw many customers experience issues with the software and hardware, but Vodafone claims it has made “hundreds” of enhancements to eliminate a repeat.

The device will be free from £35 per month through Vodafone channels, as well as Phones 4U and Carphone Warehouse, when signing to a 24-month contract. Tariifs include unlimited access to Vodafone Mobile Internet and broadband services.

The device is available for pre-order on the Vodafone website for delivery on October 26, when it will also launch in retail stores.
