T-Mobile denies staff are being squeezed out ahead of merger with Orange next year
T-Mobile has refuted suggestions that it is implementing redundancies prematurely ahead of the scheduled merger with Orange.
“No redundancy programme has been enforced. Everything stays the same for now,” a T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed.
The spokesperson added that a memo from Greenock call centre site manager Andrew Ashby to the Communication Workers Union in September was also not an indicator that a redundancy programme would be introduced, but part of a quarterly performance evaluation programme.
The memo saw Scotland-based Ashby stating that staff would be classified as either “crew, passengers or anchors”, with crew being productive staff, passengers being complacent staff and anchors being poor performing staff.
Passengers and anchors would be subject to meetings with management and a potential written warning.
