BT has launched a new mobile offering integrating home broadband in a bid to boost flagging consumer numbers on its mobile network.

Its new BT Total Broadband Anywhere package is targeted specifically at consumers, and includes a Wi-Fi enabled HTC smartphone, 10MB of mobile internet, and a Home Hub with phone and unlimited home broadband.

Prices start at £29.99 a month with 50 mobile calls and 50 texts included (after a three-month introductory price of £23.99). Packages of up to 600 minutes and 700 texts are available.

Customers can choose from a HTC S620 candy bar or S710 slider. The S620 has a 1.3 megapixel camera and 128MB internal memory, while the S710 has a two megapixel camera and 64MB internal memory.
Both are Windows Mobile powered, Wi-Fi enabled and feature media players and QWERTY keypads. The S620 will come free with the deal but the S710 will cost an additional £29.99.

A customers’ home internet settings will be automatically integrated to their mobile device and a total of four email addresses can be set up.

Unlimited downloads and a secondary handset will cost £5 extra each a month, but the secondary handset must share the voice, text and data allowance of the original subscription.

All Broadband Anywhere customers automatically join the BT FON Wi-Fi community, giving them unlimited Wi-Fi access at more than 82,000 BT FON hotspots in the UK, a further 190,000 hotspots around the world and more than 2,500 BT Openzone hotspots in the UK and Ireland.

BT managing director for consumer John Petter said: “Communications services are converging, and it is clear that customers want consistent access to the things that matter not only at home but wherever they are.”
