Vodafone purchases Danish social network

Network acquires ZYB for GBP25 million

Vodafone has acquired Danish social network ZYB for €31.5 million (£25.05 million).

The cash acquisition forms part of the network's 'Total Communications' strategy, which aims to open up new revenue streams.

ZYB is a social networking site that integrates both PC and mobile phone use. The site allows users to send messages and images from their PC to a number of mobile devices that are part of the user's mobile community. It also allows for instant messaging, as well as enabling mobile users to back up their contacts and calendar information online.

ZYB will continue to be based in Denmark but will be merged into Vodafone’s Internet Services Division.
