Car kit sales jump on harsher driving laws
July 24, 2008
Distributors predict new laws will be good for sales
Harsher sentences for drivers using mobile phones will increase sales of car kits, said distributors this week.
The new sentencing guidelines, announced July 15, will mean drivers who cause fatal accidents while using mobiles could face up to seven years in jail.
Kondor commercial director Michael Bartlett said: "The severity of the penalties incurred for these offenses only emphasise the need for such products."
According to the new sentencing guidelines, incidents when a driver is writing or reading a text message during an accident will be considered particularly serious and face the highest penalties.
