Distributor also buys Portugal-based logistics and repairs company Clarity Technologies for undisclosed fee

Ingram Micro has gone on a European acquisition spree after buying UK-based recycle firm Canai Group and Portugese reverse logistics and repairs company Clarity Technologies for undisclosed amounts.

High Wycombe-based Canai Group runs a facility which cleans and recycles mobile devices that have been traded in through retail, carrier and web-based trade-ins.

It was established in 2001 and says its point-of-sale trade-in solution is used in more than 6,000 retail outlets across Europe and Africa.

Ingram has also added reverse logistics and repair company Clarity Technologies to its portfolio, but again declined to disclose the value of the deal.

Clarity was established in 2008 and provides the mobile industry with services include logistics, diagnostics and repairs, and parts and accessory management.

“The addition of CANAI and Clarity Technology’s established services capabilities is perfectly aligned with Ingram Micro’s strategic commitment to accelerate our presence and growth in higher value services businesses across the globe,” said Ingram Micro president of mobility services Shailendra Gupta.

“Both companies bring proven intellectual property, further strengthening and complementing our current capabilities to deliver comprehensive life cycle services. While the two businesses are presently small, we expect to leverage these capabilities initially across our existing infrastructure to benefit our current and future partners and customers.”
