Distributor lands UK exclusive for first six months of sale of the ruggedised handset

Samsung’s first tablet designed for the B2B market is now available through Exertis with the distributor landing the exclusive UK contract for its first six months of sale.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active is a ruggedised eight inch device with a 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of internal memory and a 4450mAh battery Samsung claims the size of the battery will support eight to 10 hours of ‘near-continuous usage’.

It runs on Android KitKat 4.4, the latest version of the OS and Samsung Knox, the manufacturers enterprise security platform, will come pre-loaded on all models.

Exertis will sell both the 4G and WiFi versions of the device.

Other features include an anti-shock covering that can withstand a 1.2 metre drop, a 3.1MP rear camera and 1.2MP front-facing camera. For employees that work in manual environments the Tab Active comes in a protective cover. A C-Pen also comes as standard, for users who use gloves.

The manufacturer says it consulting with a number of workshops with major American corporations (Fortune 500) and incorporated the feedback into the device’s design. It is designed to work in the “most challenging” business environments, including construction sites.

“The Galaxy Tab Active This allows Exertis to develop a unique proposition for all sectors, particularly in education and health,” said Exertis head of devices Ewan Davies. “As an exclusive product for Exertis, this really enables us to be creative in terms of value and service and we are already seeing volume deals across multiple sectors.”
