The handset, which includes technology from audio specialists DTS, was unveiled at Mobile World Congress on February 22

Acer has launched the Liquid Jade 2, a device it claims beats all other smartphones for sound quality.

The manufacturer teamed up with audio specialists DTS to create the smartphone. Acer claims this technology offers an ‘authentic sound experience’ unlike any other. Users can stream music from the phone over WiFi to any compatible speaker. According to DTS, it does so without sacrificing sound quality, a common issue when playing music from a phone to an additional speaker.

Users can also watch videos on the phone, whilst streaming audio through additional speakers, with no delay between the images and sound.

The device operates on Android Marshmallow 6.0, Google’s latest operating system. It has a 5.5-inch HD screen and a 21MP rear camera with 4K video recording support and an 8MP front-facing snapper. A Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor has been added. The phone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Acer president of Smart Products ST Liew said: “Acer is pleased to incorporate these DTS technologies into the Liquid Jade 2 so our customers can enjoy the best audio features and options available on a smartphone.”

The device will be available from Q2 this year. Mobile News has contacted Acer for specific pricing.
