Report in The Times claims his move to the US operator could be announced in the next few weeks
Former O2 CEO Ronan Dunne has been linked with a senior position at US telecoms giant Verizon.
This is according to a report in The Times over the weekend, which claims his move could be announced in the next few weeks.
O2 declined to comment.
The mobile operator announced last month that Dunne (pictured) was stepping down as CEO after nearly nine years in the top job, coming just weeks after the European Commission blocked its £10.25 billion to CK Hutchison.
He has now been replaced by chief financial officer Mark Evans, but Dunne will remain at the business until next month to oversee this integration.
Last week, Verizon acquired the internet business of search engine and email giant Yahoo for $4.8 billion, with plans to combine it with rival AOL.
