Honor has unveiled its latest “affordable” smartphone device, the 5C.

The virtual launch event, held in London this afternoon, saw media gathered for a live broadcast and Q&A to discuss the latest model – which is available now, priced £149.99.

Features
The “state of the art” device, which follows the 5X announced in February, runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features a 5.2 inch 1920x1080p full HD screen and is made using ‘aircraft grade’ aluminium with ‘ridged edges’ to boost grip when holding with one hand.

According to Honor, it can withstand impacts when dropped from heights of 1.5 metres and survive temperatures as low as -40 degrees celsius and highs of 70 degrees celsius.

‘Cutting edge camera’
It has an eight megapixel front facing camera for “stunning selfies” as well as a 13 megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor. The lens also has coating designed to reduce glare and prevent fingerprint marks.

Other features include dual sim (nano) compatibility and dual antennas for “seamless connectivity” when switching between networks to ensure the best signal.

It also includes a 3,000mAh battery which will last ‘1.3 days of usage’, whilst it also has a Kirin 650 chipset which helps reduce power consumption by 40 per cent.

Unlike the Chinese variant, the device will not include a finger print sensor to keep costs low.

It will be available via the Honor vmall website as well as through operator Three on contract and prepay from August. Online retailers Amazon, Ebuyer, Clove and Expansys will also stock the device.

Colour variants include; silver, gold and brown.
