Nokia has signed a five-year strategic collaboration with Google Cloud as the vendor looks to cut operational costs.
The partnership will see Nokia migrate its on-premise IT infrastructure onto Google Cloud.
This includes the migration of its data centres and servers worldwide, plus software applications.
This agreement is expected to drive operational efficiencies and also cut costs over time, with a reduction in real estate footprint, hardware energy consumption and hardware capacity purchasing needs.
Nokia will use a suite of Google Cloud products as part of the deal, with Google Cloud deploying strategic system integrators, solution specialists and engineers during the migration.
Nokia’s infrastructure and applications will run in the public cloud or is a software-as-a-service model for the future.
The deployment of the migration is expected to be done over an 18 to 24-month period.
