Distributor Exertis has appointed Jon Atherton as commercial development director.

He joins Exertis following a 23 year career with IT distribution rival Entatech where he was director and vice president. He left Entatech in March.

Atherton will be in charge of growing Exertis’ current portfolio of products through its B2B vendors and growing the distributor’s presence in the retail industry.

A statement from Exertis said that he will bring two decades of experience and contacts to the role.

“Jon brings a wealth of experience to his role at Exertis at a time when the company’s momentum and appetite for growth shows no sign of slowing down,” said B2B director Phil Brown. “I am confident that with his skills, knowledge and contacts, Jon will help Exertis make serious in-roads into the new opportunities in the channel.”

Atherton joins Exertis following its completion of a deal to purchase rival distributor Computers Unlimited. The agreement, for an initial £24 million, will add £140 million in revenues to Exertis at their current levels.
