The company has provided inflight mobile connectivity to more than 40 million passengers over the last eight years

Inflight connectivity provider AeroMobile has connected passengers across more than a million flights in its eight-year history.

The milestone was achieved this month (November 30). Based near Gatwick Airport, AeroMobile was the first company to offer air passengers mobile connectivity mid-flight. It launched a 3G service in December last year, opening up data services alongside existing text and calls.

AeroMobile currently has more than 340 roaming agreements (including all UK operators) in 145 countries and it has served more than 40 million passengers travelling to 110 different destinations. It has partnerships secured with 19 major airlines, including Air Berlin, Emirates, Etihad Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.

It claims to have seen mobile data in 2016 so far increase 50 per cent, minutes 100 per cent and messages five per cent year-on-year. Turnover for the company at the end of its recent financial year (March 2016) totalled more than £16 million – an annual increase from over £13 million.

‘Great milestone’

CEO Kevin Rogers said: “We’ve seen significant growth over the years with additional airlines and aircraft connecting to the AeroMobile network and the one million mark is just the start as our network continues to grow. This is a great milestone for us and we will continue to lead the way for inflight connectivity.”
