Aviva sales director to join Voda in shake-up

Vodafone is to appoint Saj Arshad as its new director of performance and capability as part of its group level marketing restructure

Saj Arshad, currently sales and marketing director for RAC at Aviva, is expected to join Vodafone this month and will be part of the Vodafone’s group marketing function. His previous roles include six years as director of product management at Visa Europe and 10 years as vice president for customer loyalty marketing at American Express.

Vodafone confirmed Arshad would be joining the company, in September but would not provide further details on his job role.

His appointment follows Vodafone’s restructure of its group marketing team, cutting its staff numbers by around 10 per cent. One hundred redundancies have already been confirmed within its marketing  team.

Vodafone undertook a review of its marketing strategy following the departure of global brand director David Wheldon, who left in March after six years. His replacement is expected to be  announced shortly.

Vodafone Group chief marketing office Wendy Becker, former managing director of Talk Talk, is responsible for renewing its brand strategy and is understood to have led the changes.
