Barclay Comms secures £3m Cambridge University contract win

The contract will see Barclay Comms add an additional 5,000 mobile connections

Barclay Communications has struck a £3 million deal with the University of Cambridge to supply the University will its mobile solutions.

The deal is one of the biggest in the Belfast-based dealer’s 24-year history and adds 5,000 mobile connections.

Barclay Communications will provide the mobile solutions to Cambridge University’s 31 constituent colleges and 150 departments.

Every college across all the main departments will be covered as part of the £3 million deal.

Commenting on the contract win Barclay Communications MD Britt Megahey said: “We are delighted to have been appointed as the preferred supplier to University of Cambridge and its affiliated organisations via a rigorous tender win that saw us compete with some of the world’s most renowned comms providers.

Competition

According to Megahey, the O2 Direct Partner saw off strong competition to secure the deal.

He also adds that the coronavirus pandemic has significantly sped up the need for technological advancements for businesses.

“While we have continued to provide our customers with the highest level of support, it is evident that the needs of our customers have changed dramatically in recent months. They now look to us to underpin how their business communicates as reliably and effectively as possible in these new times using the latest technologies and services available.”
