Two operators have confirmed they are no longer taking new stock of BlackBerry’s first BB10 device, as price falls to around £150
BlackBerry has cut the price of its Z10 smartphone to £150 as operators O2 and EE confirm they are no longer stocking the device.
Launched in the UK on January 31, the BlackBerry Z10 was the manufacturer’s first to run on its new operating system, BB 10.
At launch it cost £479 SIM-free. Last week BlackBerry announced existing customers could get the handset for £149.95 from Carphone Warehouse (£159.95 for new customers).
EE and O2 have now confirmed they are no longer taking stock of the device. O2 is only selling refurbished models while a few EE stores have stock left over from when it chose to discontinue the device two months ago. EE added that business customers are still able to buy the device from them.
Vodafone said it still sells the Z10 and has no plans to stop selling it, while Three confirmed it still offers the device.
BlackBerry said it would not comment on individual carriers’ ranging decisions. The company has not revealed sales figures for the Z10 but its most recent financial results (for the three months to November 30) show it sold 4.3 million units, with the majority running on its old BB 7 operating system.
