First BlackBerry 10 device to feature a QWERTY keypad will be available from the department store chain’s four locations and website this Friday

The BlackBerry Q10 will go on sale exclusively in the UK at Selfridges from April 26-28. The manufacturer is yet to confirm details on nationwide availability, stating only that this will take place in due course.

Selfridges will sell the device in its four retail locations – Oxford Street in London, Trafford Centre and Exchange Square in Manchester, and the Bull Ring in Birmingham – as well through its website. It can now be pre-ordered on the website for £579.99 SIM-free.

The Q10 will become the second device to run the BlackBerry 10 operating system, following the release of the Z10 on January 31, and its first on the platform to feature both a touchscreen and QWERTY keypad.

It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and has a 3.1-inch Super AMOLED screen, eight megapixel rear camera, two megapixel front camera, HD video recording and 16GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for further expansion.

Like the Z10, the smartphone enables users to ‘peek’ in and out of BlackBerry Hub, ‘Screen Share’ to enable them to instantly share photos, documents and emails running on the device without stopping a conversation on BlackBerry Messenger and ‘BlackBerry Balance’, to separate business and personal use.

On March 28, BlackBErry released its financial results for the three months to March 2, which revealed that it had shipped one million Z10s, and six million smartphones in total.
