Brightstar has added five new senior members of staff, including a newly created head of B2B and the new role of head of accessories.

The Crewe-based distributor has appointed former Argos buying manager Elan Elton as head of its accessories division. In 2014, former Brightstar COE Marcelo Claure claimed it was the world leader in accessory distribution.

Former Motorola, Vodafone and Nokia account director Adam McCormick has also joined. He will be responsible for accessory sales into the retail channel in his job as channel director.

He is joined at Brightstar by former Phones 4U sales manager Trevor Molley, who has left his role as IT contract manager at consultancy firm Uniting Ambition to become the new head of B2B at the distributor, where he will oversee its reseller channel.

Former Phones 4u purchasing manager John-Daniel Whyte has joined the distributor as propositions manager, where he will be tasked with driving growth in emerging product categories. He joins from HSS Hire, where he’d worked as head of procurement since Phones 4u collapsed in September last year.

Brightstar has also appointed Ian Gale as account director in its hardware sales division.

Brightstar UK managing director Jim Michel said: “This year will be another record year for Brightstar in the UK and our new appointments further strengthen our team. We are delighted to add their considerable experience and track record of success to our business.

“Their combined knowledge of product and sales channels will allow us to accelerate the execution of our combined services and hardware strategy.”
