BT and Nokia join forces to encourage developers to build 5G monetisation apps

Nokia and BT Group have teamed up to build an ecosystem of developers to improve 5G monetisation.

BY  will be using Nokia’s Network as Code platform in combination with BT Group’s cloud-native network. This allows developers to access, and interact with networks. Developers can deploy software development kits (SDKs), open APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to write ode that interacts with the infrastructure. especially in the context of 5G technology.

BT Group will delploy the Nokia software tools to develop new solutions for enterprise, industrial, and consumer applications for EE customers.

This agreement will enhance our joint work with developers and create new opportunities

The partnership signals a step towards creating opportunities to extract value from BT Group’s network assets using to the software-based nature of 5G networks,

Head of Network Monetization Platform, Cloud and Network Services, at Nokia, Shkumbin Hamiti said: “BT Group has been an important driver of helping the industry understand the benefits of opening telecom networks to application developers. This agreement will enhance our joint work with developers and create new opportunities”

Reza Rahnama, Managing Director, Mobile Networks at BT Group, said: “5G-era networks are software-based and rich in capabilities that can make a difference iin ways that were not possible years ago. We are excited to work with Nokia and its new platform to tap into those capabilities that we have been building into our 5G network.”
