Outlets within 40 Currys/PC World shops will be as Carphone Warehouse this week, with all 159 opened by Christmas

Dixons Carphone will open 40 concession outlets within Currys/PC World stores this week following the collapse of Phones 4u last month.

The retailer agreed to take over all 159 store-in-stores after the collapse of its rival, saving 800 jobs, with 40 stores set to open branded as Carphone Warehouse later this week.

Dixons Carphone has already opened around 45 concession stores after Phones 4u was placed into administration by owners BC Partners on September 15.  The retailer also confirmed that all 159 stores will be open by Christmas.

Both EE and Vodafone, who between them purchased nearly 200 former Phones 4u stores, have already began the process of opening their stores, with the former announcing all 55 purchased shops are now in operation. Meanwhile, Vodafone has said 130 of its rebranded stores will be open by mid-November.

Dixons Carphone said they have had over 1,700 job applications from ex Phones 4u employees, employing more than 500 on top of the 600 jobs saved in the concession stores.
