Mobile security product for Android handsets to be available in all of the retailer’s stores from May 28

Carphone Warehouse has signed a deal with security provider Norton to sell its ‘Mobile Security’ product in its footprint of over 800 stores across the UK

From May 28, Norton Mobile Security will be available with every Android handset purchased at Carphone, costing £14.99.

The product features remote locate, lock and wipe to secure the device if it is stolen, as well as call and text blocker and anti-phising web protection to protect against mobile threats and scams.

Symantec’s recent Internet Security Threat Report showed that mobile vulnerabilities increased by 93 per cent last year.

Carphone Warehouse Group head of content René Wright said: “At Carphone Warehouse our responsibility to the customer goes way beyond the devices and services that we offer them in store.  Part of our value-add is offering them access to the kind of protection that is essential in the modern landscape of increasing and varied threats.

“In Norton we have a partner that has the same values as ours in terms of exemplary customer service and one that offers protection across the entire eco system represented through the product range. We are looking forward to offering further choice and applications to protect and secure our customers with Norton.”

Norton senior director of consumer sales Simon Ellson said: “Consumers are familiar with protecting their PC or laptop, but with the growing number of phones used to access the internet for online banking and social media, as well as storing personal details and photos, it is imperative that they protect their mobile devices too.

“Our new partnership with Europe’s largest mobile reseller, Carphone Warehouse, will put industry leading Norton protection on every new Android handset sold, making it easier than ever to protect the Stuff that matters.”
