The retailer is reportedly in talks to sell its French retail operations as part of a review of its overall Phone House business

Carphone Warehouse is in talks to sell its French arm according to reports.

The Financial Times said the discussions were the result of Carphone Warehouse conducting a review of its overall European business, Phone House, to be concluded next month.

Its French business, which has 250 stores across the country and takes about ‚¬300 million in revenues a year, has reportedly already drawn interest from telecoms firms with retail operations and domestic retailers.

Phone House is half-owned by US electrical retailer Best Buy, the co-owner of the Carphone Warehouse Europe group.

Mobile phone prices in France have been pushed down over the last twelve months due to the market entry of Free, a low cost retailer.

Carphone Warehouse said: “We do not comment on rumour or speculation.”
