Chess named third best company to work for

Alderley Edge-based reseller bags bronze prize on Sunday Times annual list of businesses with less than 3,500 employees

IT and telecoms reseller Chess has been named the UK’s third best company to work for in the Sunday Times annual listings.

The Alderley Edge based firm bagged the bronze award for the mid-sized company, its sixth consecutive year as one of the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For.”

Chess, which employs 320 members of staff following several acquisitions over the last few years including mobile airtime provider Avenir Telecom, was beaten by online insurance company Simply Business and hotel operator Red Carnation Hotels Collection.

The annual list also commended Chess with a Special Award for Innovation in Engagement Practice for its happiness training programme, which is carried out by CEO David Pollock.

Pollock said: “Over the last 22 years our people have focussed on our vision of building a business to be proud of, a great place to work and a great place to be a customer.

“To have been listed as third in the UK’s Best Companies to Work For and win the Innovation in Engagement Award is something everyone at Chess can feel truly proud of. We really are a great place to work and we strive every day to be a great place to be a customer.”

The Sunday Times 100 best companies to work for list has been running for 15 years and is based on the opinions of employees at more than 1,050 businesses and organisations. Chess fell in to the category for businesses with between 250- 3,500 employees.
