Retailer looking to raise money via competition to support 14,000 young people as it celebrates 10 year partnership with charity

The Carphone Warehouse is aiming to raise £100,000 and support 14,000 young people across the UK as it celebrates its 10 year partnership with charity Get Connected.

The retailer is looking to raise the amount by launching a competition to win a home entertainment package worth £1,500, including a 3D television, PS3 and home theatre system.

Participants can enter the competition by answering: How long has Get Connected been The Carphone Warehouse’s charity partner? A. Three years; B. 10 years or C. 15 years. The competition can be entered by texting GCWIN followed by A, B or C to 84424 at a charge of £3 per text plus the user’s standard text message rate. The competition closes on September 30, with all proceeds go towards Get Connected.

Get Connected offers a free and confidential helpline service for youngsters who know they need help but don’t know where to find it.

Since Carphone partnered with Get Connected in 2001, it has raised over £2 million through projects including a handset recycling initiative that saw Get Connected receive a donation for each one of the 20,000 handsets recycled through the retailer every year. The total raised so far from this initiative is £370,000.

Carphone Warehouse UK managing director Matt Stringer said: “The Carphone Warehouse a great opportunity to extend our work to a worthy cause. Our employees across the UK are extremely enthusiastic and really get behind the initiatives to help raise money and awareness. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be celebrating ten years of a great partnership and hope to offer our continued support for years to come.”
