O2 reseller sold to the fuel card and telematics firm for an undisclosed fee

Shropshire dealer Pure Telecom has been sold to fuel card and telematics company Radius Payment Solutions for an undisclosed amount.

The O2 reseller and unified comms provider was voted Best B2B Dealer in the 2019 Mobile News Awards.

Pure’s founder and CEO Matt Sandford, who is leaving the business, told Mobile News: “Pure has had amazing growth. I was not looking to sell the business for probably another five years given our current trajectory.

“However, we were approached by Radius back in the summer, as they had seen our growth and were impressed by our KPIs and reputation. They have a fabulous culture within their business – a real entrepreneurial spirit, which is not something you normally find in a £2.5 billion turnover business.

“I instantly got on with the founder and CEO, Bill Holmes, who is incredibly hands-on in the business. I just knew that every single one of my team at Pure had a fabulous future ahead of them.”

Holmes added: “Radius has acquired a highly reputable business in a sector where we see huge potential for an offering to our core customers alongside their fuel cards and telematics products.

“We look forward to working with the team at Pure Telecom to build a successful telecoms division within the Radius group.”

In a statement, Radius said further: “Pure Telecom has built up an excellent reputation over many years in the telecoms market, providing a full range of business solutions supported by outstanding customer service to SMEs across the UK.”

The acquisition follows Radius’ first foray into the telecoms market a year ago, when it bought London reseller Adam Phones.

Radius was established in 1990 when Holmes set up a new fuel card company in the north of England called UK Fuels.

After over 20 years of growth across Europe, Holmes led a merger of more than 25 smaller businesses to establish a major company capable of competing on a global basis.

Today, Radius has offices in 14 countries, including France, Singapore, Australia and the US, and provides products and services to the small and medium fleet sectors, specialising in vehicle hire and insurance alongside its fuel cards and telematics activities.

Many oil companies white-label the company’s products.
