Operator also named most reliable network in capital, but three-way tie between rivals for runner-up prize

EE has been named the most reliable mobile provider in London as part of the latest RootMetrics study.

The operator was given a Rootscore – the network testing firm’s own, unique ranking score – of 96.5 out of 100, beating O2 (91.6), Vodafone (91.3) and Three (90.9).

EE won or shared top spot across all six measurement categories (Overall performance, network reliability, network speed, data performance, call performance and text performance) as part of the tests, which were carried out during H1 2016.

O2 tied with EE on text performance, the only category which it did not outright win.

A number of operators showed a marked improvement across several categories. Since the London test for H2 2015, carried out in October, EE’s rate of dropped calls has fallen from 1.0 per cent to 0.4 per cent.

O2 also improved its dropped call rate, reducing it from 1.4 per cent to 0.9 per cent.

Three upped its median download speed from 6.2 Mbps to 9.6 Mbps, while its median upload speed increased from 2.8 Mbps to 5.8 Mbps.

Vodafone saw improvement in its blocked calls category, falling from 1.9 per cent to 1.3 per cent.
