The X5 Play features a step counter which rewards them with Xplora coins for every 1,000 steps, which can be exchanged for gifts, gadgets, or put towards good causes via the Xplora website

EE has announced a partnership with children’s smartwatch manufacturer Xplora to offer the X5 Play for children to stay active and connect with parents.

The launch follows a survey from EE which reveals that 59 per cent of UK parents feel their children have become less physically active due to the pandemic.

A further 61pc said they would be comfortable with their children doing more activities if they had a connected smartwatch with 40pc believing having a reliable connection is the most important feature.

The smartwatch works through an app on a parent’s smartphone where parents can set location alerts and manage who their child can communicate with, and put the watch into ‘school mode.’

EE director of devices and partnerships Alistair Wilson said: “The launch of the X5 Play smartwatch on EE, with it’s own phone number, can give parents extra peace of mind with signal coverage in more places and a fast overall connection they can depend on, allowing them to stay in touch with their children as they find new activities they love.”

The Xplora X5 Play comes with its own phone number, unlimited minutes and 4GB data and is available through ee.co.uk, EE telesales and EE retail stores for £12 per month with a 24 month watch plan.
